Synopsis:
What if one of the "Trinity" boys suddenly acquired super powers? Crazier still, what if Dave was fighting on the side of the law as a rookie cop? A simple man with incredible powers to fight crime in his own unique -- and uniquely hilarious -- way (like seeing around corners and catching bullets with his teeth).
After watching Super Fuzz, I can honestly say I haven't seen anything quite like it. Bizarre is the simplest way to sum it -- for better or worse. There's gags a plenty throughout the film. Some were funny enough to make me chuckle, although the majority left me simply thinking, "Huh, that was a joke, I guess." But when the weird factor kicks in, it puts Super Fuzz in the "So Bad, It's Good" category.
Super Fuzz is a part of the My Name is Trinity series. Oddly enough, they started out as spaghetti westerns and over time transformed into cornball comedies featuring a cop with super powers.
Video: How's it look?
I wasn't expecting much from the film's picture, but it actually looks pretty good. It's in anamorphic widescreen and it's largely sharp.
Audio: How's it sound?
The audio is in Dolby Digital mono. It's nothing spectacular but it's not completely embarrassing. Spanish and French tracks are also included.
Extras: What additional goodies are included?
- Animated slideshow of original lobby cards.
- Short written biographies for stars Terence Hill and Ernest Borgnine and director Sergio Corbucci.
- Trailers for Crime Busters, Odds & Evens, Keep Your Hands Off the Island and Double Trouble.
- Teasers for other Terence Hill/ Bud Spencer features.
Closing Thoughts
Super Fuzz is a strange one. With its corny gags, absurd premise and bizarre execution, there's certainly nothing else like it. Watch with caution, enjoy it with a trio of choice beverages.
