Synopsis:
An intimate portrait of three lives on the brink of emotional and
spiritual explosion. Hedonistic Robert (Norman Reedus, BOONDOCK SAINTS,
MIMIC) circulates in a BLOW UP-style world of models, sex, alcohol and
fashion photography while engaging in an affair with an isolated
married woman. Also starring Kathleen Robertson (Beverly Hills 90210,
Scary Movie 2), Sean Young and Michael T. Weiss (TV's The Pretender).
A tangled drama involving the intermingling of two relationships and
the repurcussions thereafter... This is no "Closer" and, in fact,
delivers a much more engaging and interesting story than the
big-budget film that is the obvious comparison.
With strong acting, a very well-drafted screenplay and some impressive
independent filmmaking (esp. the cinematography, which is impressive
before you even factor in that the film was shot on digital video!),
"Until the Night" is a great little film that is well worth checking
out.
Video: How's it look?
Presented in an anamorphic widescreen transfer (with a 1.78:1 ratio),
the video portion of this disc is top-notch. Despite being a DV
feature, the DVD presents none of the downsides of that shooting
format, as there are no compression artifacts, no noise, no jitter,
leaving only a clean & crisp picture. Nice job.
Audio: How's it sound?
Dolby 5.1 mix is equally as impressive - this is a talkie flick, so
the surrounds do not get too much of a workout, but it's tough to
complain when all dialogue and background music is perfectly balanced
and presented.
Extras: What all's on the DVD?
- audio commentary w/ director and 2 actors
- deleted scenes
- biographies
- still gallery
- trailers
