10. The Lego Movie: The Second Part. This is how you do a sequel.

9. High Flying Bird. A basketball movie by the Magic Mike and Ocean's franchise guy. Yes please.

8. John Wick 3: Parabellum. This was me during the entire runtime of this movie in the theatre: "Holy shit!"

7. The Last Black Man in San Francisco. See it for the heart. See it for the craft. See it for what it says about race and gentrification and capitalism. But for God's sake, just see it. No one else did.

6. Uncut Gems. Full disclosure? I haven't even seen this movie yet. But check this out: Adam Sandler in a career defining performance (or so I've heard). NBA legend Kevin Garnett in a career making performance (or so I've heard). Diamond heists. Fixed NBA games. Funky soundtrack. By the guys that made Good Time. You had me at hello.

5. Triple Frontier. You know how no men went and saw Little Women because they assumed the movie was dripping in estrogen? Well Triple Frontier is a movie that is proudly drenched in testosterone. This is a bro movie for people who like it hard, like it loud, and like it Affleck. And it was even better the second time! 

4. Dolemite Is My Name. A tribute to blaxploitation. A tribute to Eddie Murphy. A tribute to moviemaking. Essentially, this movie is a tribute to me.

3. Parasite. Have you seen this? No? Why not? Because it's Korean and has subtitles? Cool story bro.

2. The Irishman. With this cast and this director, this movie could have been nothing more than three and a half hours of Robert DeNiro trying to take a piss and it still would've been an instant classic. The fact that it is in fact probably the best mob movie since the last time Scorsese made a mob movie is just pure gravy.

And our WINNER:

1. Once Upon A Time in...Hollywood. The fact that Quentin Tarantino is perhaps the most arrogant, egotistical and annoying film personality since Chevy Chase does not detract one bit from the more important fact that he is also one of the world's greatest living filmmakers. And this is one of his best films. A love letter to Hollywood that curses in cursive. Thank you, good night.
