Flying high on the vibes of the new moon in Cancer, and the approaching Jupiter Biquintile Uranus, join CSIF and TRUCK for an auspicious evening of science fiction in Rotary Park. At sundown, we’ll be screening the animated short film TARBOZ by local fave Chad Van Gaalen, and the feature film BEYOND THE BLACK RAINBOW by Vancouver director Panos Cosmatos, which includes a magnificently trippy score by the band Black Mountain. Bike in, chill out, expand your consciousness under the cosmos!

BEYOND THE BLACK RAINBOW DIR. PANOS COSMATOS (2011) | 110MIN
Set in the strange and oppressive emotional landscape of 1983, Beyond The Black Rainbow is a Reagan-era fever dream inspired by hazy childhood memories of midnight movies and Saturday morning cartoons. Deep within the mysterious Arboria Institute, a disturbed and beautiful girl (Allan) is held captive by a doctor in search of inner peace. Her mind controlled by a sinister technology. Silently, she waits for her next session with deranged therapist Dr. Barry Nyle (Rogers). If she hopes to escape, she must journey through the darkest reaches of The Institute... but Nyle won't easily part with his most gifted and dangerous creation.

PRECEDED BY: TARBOZ DIR. CHAD VANGAALEN (2015) | 20MIN
Tarboz is a stream of consciousness animated story about a intergalactic trash collector who slowly discovers that they might actually be something else completely. It is also functions an homage to freestyle disc throwing, also known throughout the galaxy as Sarzoinian (or Sarconian) Fuff.
