Waiting for Waldemar, directed by German-Canadian filmmaker Eric Spoeth, will screen in Calgary, Alberta on April 23rd, 2017 at the historic Plaza Theatre (1133 Kensington Rd. NW).
WAITING FOR WALDEMAR is a 45-minute docu-drama about four children's lifelong search for their father who disappeared during their harrowing escape from Ukraine to Germany during the Second World War.
Shot at the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village and rural areas in Alberta, it is a universal story about one of the least-known refugee crises of the Second World War, and which shaped the cultural landscape of Alberta in the decades following. Bridging cultural divides, the story's central message is a testament that "love hopes all things".
The film stars Vance Avery, Lilly Bebernik and a supporting cast of actors and extras from across Alberta.
This event is open to the public and the director will be in attendance.
