Edmonton Movie Club presents 3rd Annual India Film Festival of Alberta
India Film Festival of Alberta 2017 is one of the most awaited event of the year. It features
several award winning and independent movies from India. This is the third year of the festival and will be travelling to six cities in Alberta.
The annual summer celebration of the best of Indian cinema is here once again, bigger than ever. Edmonton Movie Club (EMC) started the first IFFA in 2015, with screenings in Edmonton, Calgary, and Fort McMurray. Though the shows in Ft. McMurray had to be suspended in the 2nd IFFA last year due to the wildfire, this 3rd edition of IFFA will take place in six cities across Alberta, with weekend festivals in Edmonton (July 14-16) and Calgary (July 21-23) and one day celebrations in Fort McMurray (July 29), Cold Lake (July 30), Peace River (August 12), and Red Deer (August 17 and August 18).
This year, we are presenting 13 films in nine languages, including English. For the first time, we are screening two Canadian productions, one focused on an incident that happened in India, and one examining the issues faced by the children of immigrants from India to Canada. The films to be screened include those which have garnered acclaim and awards in India and abroad, and have already been shown in prestigious international film festivals. We are very excited to bring such notable films to Alberta viewers.
