UN Day -Movie Event-

Join UNAC Calgary for a special UN Day movie screening event.

This year, we have partnered with Marda Loop Justice Film Festival for the screening of 'The Apology'. Trailer and bonus clips can be found in: https://www.nfb.ca/film/apology/. This film follows 3 former "comfort women" who were kidnapped and forced into military sexual slavery during WWII, and now seeking a formal apology from the Japanese government. Although the trauma and injustice these women faced happened more than 70 years ago, there are somethings that cannot be forgotten in a lifetime.

How do we achieve gender equality? It is a simple question to ask, but so very hard to answer. The UN's Global Goal #5 aims to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls; however, gender inequality is a global issue that deprives women and girls of their basic rights and opportunities.

We will open the evening with a short introduction of the film from Marda Loop Justice Film Festival.

Agenda (*Subject to change*):
6:00 PM - Cinema doors open
6:20 PM - Introduction to the film by Marda Loop Justice Film Festival
6:40 PM - The Screening of "The Apology"

Free Admission. Popcorn and beverages are available for purchase.
