Join us May 16 and 17, 2018 at the Globe Cinema in Calgary for Humainologie’s 3rd Annual Film Festival.

This year, we are sharing two evenings of film that allow us to step into the shoes of others and share our human stories; that stimulate empathy, encourage inclusivity and respect for all humans; and that promote the recognition of our shared humanity.

Thursday, May 17, 6.30 – 8.30PM | Selected Shorts by Humainologie and other filmmakers from around the world followed by feature film: The World Is My Country

Beer, wine and concession will be available on both nights both before and after the screenings. Doors open at 6PM. Screening begins promptly at 6.30PM.

Wednesday, May 16: Transfiguration
We are using the term ‘transfiguration’ to mean changing the form of something; often a challenge, trauma, injustice – into an opportunity, a thing of beauty, an opening. (Total run time approx. 90 mins)

Three to five acid attack crimes against women take place in India every week. This documentary shares the stories of a number of acid attack survivors; how they have confronted challenges following the attacks and found new meaning and purpose in their lives.

Thursday, May 17: Questioning Barriers
Barriers exist in our hearts, minds, beliefs, laws. Sometimes they serve an important or beneficial purpose. Other times, they may serve to isolate us, to cut us off from each other, to preserve something we do not want to share causing others to suffer.
