One special day. Six Canadian cities. 600 Canadian women. One thought-provoking documentary. One powerful global movement to empower 130 million girls.

There are currently 130 million girls out of school.

130 million girls who are denied an education and an opportunity to learn, share their voice and follow their dreams.

On October 11, The Ace Class is inviting its community to join them in doing something about this global crisis. In celebration of Day of the Girl, The Ace Class is gathering women together in six cities across the country to partake in a special screening of the documentary Girl Rising.

Created by a team of former journalists, Girl Rising tells the stories of nine girls from around the world who are affected by education – or lack thereof. Their stories are compelling, moving and emotional, and most importantly, shine a bright light on why we desperately need to invest in educating and empowering girls.

Girl Rising is revolutionary and is one of the most important films one will see in his or her lifetime because its purpose and meaning transcends way beyond the screen, but lends itself to a growing movement that all women and men should support – giving rise and a voice to girls.

Beyond the film’s screening, The Ace Class is offering its guests an interactive and inspiration-filled evening which will include: impactful poetry from a spoken word artist, an experiential marketplace, the on-site presence of charities aimed at empowering women and delicious food and drink.

Guests will also have the chance to purchase an exclusive EmpowerHer box which includes a copy of I am Malala, an Empower Women shirt, a special edition Alora bracelet and more.

All are encouraged to attend this event to learn more about how we can rise together to get girls into the classroom and to allow their voices, thoughts, stories and ideas to be heard.

Celebrate the Day of the Girl with us the best way possible – by ensuring girls all around the world can be full and equal participants in society.

Doors open at 5:30 PM.

This event is in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calgary and Area
