Produced by the Calgary Underground Film Festival, BeakerReel is a night of science, invention and inspiration as told through film. This event is for ages 18+. The evening will be comprised of two screenings that are filled with science, invention and inspiration as told through film, celebrating creativity-in-action.

GE Focus Forward – 7:00 pm (80 minutes)

The evening will be comprised of two film screenings celebrating creativity-in-action, the leap that those who are courageous enough take to bring their ideas to life. Starting with the Alberta premiere of GE FOCUS FORWARD, a documentary shorts package from an impressive roster of award-winning, international directors showcasing unique inventors who are changing the world. We will be showcasing 23 as a specialty curated series for Beakerhead. Some of the directors featured are: Morgan Spurlock, Leslie Iwerks, Lucy Walker, Alex Gibney.

Journey to Planet X – 9:00 pm (76 minutes) Comedy/Sci-Fi

Then at 9:00pm, watch the feature documentary JOURNEY TO PLANET X (directed by Josh Koury & Myles Kane), a hilarious, charming and inspirational documentary about two guys who are scientists by day, and amateur science fiction filmmakers by night. These two friends have worked together for years - turning out sci-fi inspired tales of their own creation. Journey to Planet X follows the filming of Planet X, the duo's most ambitious endeavor to date, and sheds light on their own unique brand of 'movie magic.' There will be a post screening Q&A with both Eric & Troy on skype!
