The Giant Incandescent Resonating Animation Festival is our annual celebration of independent animation, a showcase of the best of what's being made here in Canada and around the world. Each year, we scour the globe for the most astounding, inventive, beautiful, mind-altering and unexpected animated films out there. Then we bring it to Calgary for four days of screenings, artist talks, performances and more.
We're hard at work on this year's lineup, feverishly watching the 1,300 or so films that submitted to the festival and figuring out how to distill the vast world of artistically driven animation to its purest essence. Keep an eye on this page, though, because we'll have some announcements on the way in October.
GIRAF is run by the Quickdraw Animation Society, a charitable organization in Calgary dedicated to the creation, exhibition and celebration of animation.
