Join us for this educational screening series exploring the work and influence of great female animators working from the 1920′s to today. Each week comes with commentary, context, classic films, and a cool hand-made zine!

GREAT WOMEN ANIMATORS

Attendees will have the opportunity to review the work and influence of great and influential female animators of the 20th and 21st century, such as but not limited to Caroline Leaf, Reiko Okuyama, Evelyn Lambart, Lillian Friedman, Lotte Reiniger, and more. Techniques and thematic influences of these animators will be explored, as well as discussions regarding feminism in the field of animation, masculine and feminine aesthetics, and what it means to be a woman working with animation today. The screening series is separated into five unique weeks of content using a chronological timeline as its underlying structure. Films ranging from documentaries, interviews, shorts, clips from features and online work will be explored.

This class is on a drop-in basis. Advance tickets may be purchased in person at Quickdraw.
