The true story of a wealthy, physically disabled risk taker, the picture of established French nobility, who lost his wife in an accident and whose world is turned upside down when he hires a young, good-humored, black Muslim ex-con as his caretaker. Their bond proves the power and omniscience that love and friendship can hold over all social and economic differences.

Why are there no reviews on this movie? It was beyond fantastic in so many ways, that I can't believe no-one has taken the time to rave about it. First off, it's funny. Laugh out loud, tears running down your cheeks funny. Second, the acting is superb and the casting is perfect. Driss and Phillipe were born to play these roles. Third, the writing leaves you wondering how someone could keep the movie moving at this level from the opening credits to the final scene. This is a brilliant screenplay that grabs you, stuffs you into a Maserati and hammers on the gas. Driss, the hired help, gives us a glimpse of someone on the edge of society - just out of jail - kicked out of his mother's house - nothing but drudgery ahead of him - who will not give up the incredible happiness inside him. It's infectious. He's infectious. The time he spends with Phillipe is magic as you watch both men take what they need from their relationship. This movie was based on a true story, and let me tell you, Phillipe was one lucky rich dude when Driss walked into his life. This story could have been one big cliche - the whole triumph of the human spirit thing - but it ramps up, leaves the easy way in the ditch and takes the high road. Quite simply, I cannot remember when I've seen a better movie. Spend the money, settle in with a bag of popcorn and get ready to laugh your *** off.
