GIANT INCANDESCENT RESONATING ANIMATION FESTIVAL

GIRAF is a celebration of independent animation, a showcase of the best of what's being made here in Canada and around the world.

Each year, we scour the globe for the most astounding, inventive, beautiful,
mind-altering and unexpected animated films out there. For 2020, we're bringing 80+ shorts and features to animation fans across Alberta, plus artist talks, interviews, and workshops exploring the art of animation.

Screenings are online and on demand, and are available to Alberta audiences only. Watch whenever you like, or follow our Discord Watch Party schedule to hang out with the QAS team and animation fans around the province, and share in the celebration of independent animated art!

GIRAF16 is taking place online through Cinesend and Film Festivals Calgary, and is available only to audiences in Alberta. Once you've bought your ticket or festival pass, head to watch.ffyyc.ca to watch your selections!

​Films will be available to stream on demand from 12:01am on Thursday, November 19 through 11:55pm on Sunday, November 29.

​Although you can watch any film whenever you want, for a more festive online experience, we've also created a suggested schedule for some Discord watch parties. It's totally optional, but we'll be following that schedule as we're hanging out on our GIRAF Discord channel, and we'd love for any Alberta animation fans out there to join us and chat.

GIRAF is run by the Quickdraw Animation Society, a charitable organization in Calgary dedicated to the creation, exhibition and celebration of animation.
